Caboose Industries 202S
HO / S Scale Sprung Ground throw with .190 travel. Sprung ground throws are designed to be connected directly to the turnout due to the internal Stainless Steel springs.
GROUND THROW WITH CONTACT AND SELECTABLE END FITTINGS
Slidebar travel of 0.165" makes these usable for both HO and N scale. The SPDT contact can be used to power a turnout frog, a signaling system, or a relay coil. A shim to raise the stand to tie level and five different end fittings to connect to most turnouts are provided. Hook end for ATLAS, blade for ROCO, hole for PECO, Small Round pin for Micro Eng. and round pin for SHINOHARA and others.
OPERATING STANDARD GROUND THROWS
All Ground Throws offer these advantages:
-
Molded of strong, self-lubricating black Delrin.
-
External cam provides maximum life and travel.
-
Cam design provides lock on both ends of the throw from 10 Degrees above horizontal to the extreme down position.
-
Direct connection to the turnout through a pin on the slide bar.
-
Detent to assist in holding the handle horizontal.
The 200S series are internally sprung stands. Stainless steel springs take up the overtravel and maintain tension to hold the movable points agianst the stock rails of the turn out. These springs make the machines easy to mount to the turnout.
The 210S has an operating Target and has the numbers 1 thru 9 included so yard tracks can be numbered. The ground throw is assembled ready for use and ABS Target parts are included for the modeler to assemble the display.
High Levels
The operating high level switch stand is patterned after the type used by the Milwaukee Road and many other railroads. The stand is made of Delrin and is supplied with ABS targets.
Look at these features:
- Choice of 5 different end connectors for easy connection to most turnout.
- A connector receptacle on either end of the slide bar permits selective mounting positions for the most favorable handle swing.
- A stop and lock at both ends of the throw.
- 180 degrees handle rotation turns the target 90 degrees through small gears.
- Six paintable, bondable ABS tarets - including a lantern and square/diamond - select your favorites. Packaged seperately for easy storage until needed. Modeler must assemble.
- Enough .025" dia (#22 wire) rod for an eight foot high target. Cut to your desired length.
- Provisions made so targets can be made to operate from below the table on electrically controlled turnouts. Modeler must fabricate own linkage.
Like our ground throws, the high levels are available either with the rigid or the internally sprung slide bar. In the 204S, internal stainless steel springs will take up the overtravel and maintain tension to hold the points against the stock rails of the turnout. The internal springs make the model 204S easy to mount to any turnout. 103R requires modeler to fabricate a spring link between turnout and switch stand.
Basic Info
Made In America with American materials and Labor
Caboose Industries manufactures manual switch stands.
Our ground throws feature an external cam for extended life and a positive lock on both ends of the throw. They come in sizes for scales from N to O.
The HO scale high level is fully operational and features a gear driven target so 180 degrees rotation of the handle turns the target 90 degrees. It locks into position using an over-center design.
There are two basic types, the 100R series rigid stands, and the 200S series sprung stands. An example is the 101R and the 202S are from the same mold and look exactly alike. The only way to tell them apart is to push on what we call the slidebar or the bar that moves. If there is no spring action, it is the 101R.
The rigid stands are full functioning stands that require the hobbyist to supply some sort of a spring link between our switch stand slidebar and the turnout throwbar. This stand is recommended when the switch stand must be mounted a distance from the turnout. Normally a spring wire is routed through a tube when this is done. The 200S series have two stainless steel springs internally that provide point tension and take any switch stand overtravel. The springs are preloaded to a 6-ounce force. All stands are molded from black Delrin making them very durable and self-lubricating.
All stands have an external cam and some form of direct connection to the turnout throwbar. The 103R/204S high levels, the 117R/218S/222S ground throws, and the 119R/220S/224S ground throws with SPDT contacts have selectable connectors to provide easy connection to almost any turnout. They also have a shim plate to raise the stand if it is not to be mounted on switch ties. The 109R/210S ground throws and the 103R/204S high level have their targets and related parts molded of ABS styrene so they can be easily bonded and painted. Mounting of the 200S series is easy connect to the turnout throwbar, center the switch point and the switch stand handle. Align the two for straight travel and fasten the stand with track nails or screws.
